Overview
You can access your ArchGriffin-hosted email from your mobile device using the built-in Mail app on Android or iOS. This guide walks you through manual setup using the recommended IMAP protocol for syncing across devices.
Before You Begin
Ensure you have the following:
- Your full email address (e.g.,
[email protected]) - Your email password
- Incoming Mail (IMAP):
mail.yourdomain.com, Port 993 (SSL) - Outgoing Mail (SMTP):
mail.yourdomain.com, Port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
Android Email Setup (Gmail or Samsung Mail)
- Open your email app (e.g., Gmail, Samsung Email).
- Tap Add Account.
- Choose Other (for custom email addresses).
- Enter your full email address and tap Manual Setup.
- Select IMAP as the account type.
- For Incoming Mail settings:
- IMAP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Security Type: SSL/TLS
- Port: 993
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Your email password
- For Outgoing Mail settings:
- SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Security Type: SSL (or STARTTLS)
- Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Authentication required: Yes
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Your email password
- Tap Next and complete setup.
iOS (iPhone and iPad) Email Setup
- Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, then choose Other.
- Tap Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, email address, password, and a description (e.g., Work Email).
- Tap Next and choose IMAP.
- Under Incoming Mail Server, enter:
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Your email password
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter:
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Your email password
- Tap Next. The phone will verify the server settings.
- Once verified, choose what to sync (Mail, Notes, etc.), and tap Save.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Login failed? Double-check your password and make sure you’re entering your full email address.
- Server not responding? Make sure you’re using
mail.yourdomain.com— not just your domain name. - SSL errors? Try switching from port 465 to 587 with STARTTLS if SSL fails to connect.
