How to Set Up Email Forwarding in cPanel Print

  • 0

Overview

Email forwarding lets you redirect emails from one address to another automatically. For example, you can forward [email protected] to your personal address or to multiple team members. This guide explains how to set it up using cPanel.

Accessing the Forwarders Tool in cPanel

  1. Log into your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll to the Email section.
  3. Click on Forwarders.

Creating an Email Forwarder

  1. On the Forwarders page, click Add Forwarder.
  2. Fill in the following:
    • Address to Forward: Enter the username (e.g., info)
    • Domain: Select the domain (e.g., yourdomain.com)
    • Destination: Enter the full address to forward to (e.g., [email protected])
  3. Click Add Forwarder.

All incoming mail to [email protected] will now be redirected to the destination email address.

Forwarding to Multiple Recipients

To forward one address to multiple people, create a separate forwarder for each destination:

  1. Repeat the steps above for each person (e.g., [email protected], [email protected], etc.).

Alternatively, you can set up a mailing list or use a Google Group or Microsoft 365 distribution list for advanced control.

Forwarding Without Creating a Mailbox

You do not need to create an actual email account for forwarding to work. Just set up the forwarder — cPanel will route the email automatically.

Deleting or Editing a Forwarder

  1. On the Forwarders page, scroll down to the list of existing forwarders.
  2. Click Delete next to any entry to remove it, or recreate it with updated info.

Limitations and Considerations

  • Forwarded emails may trigger spam filters at Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo if not authenticated properly.
  • To improve deliverability when forwarding to external services, be sure your domain has proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.
  • Some destination inboxes may throttle or block forwarded emails if they look suspicious — consider pulling email via POP instead for better reliability.
