How to restore a backup with JetBackup Print

  • 0

Overview

ArchGriffin includes free 14-day rolling backups with all hosting plans, powered by JetBackup 5. If something goes wrong — like a website update breaking your site or a file being accidentally deleted — you can restore your data in just a few clicks directly from cPanel.

Accessing JetBackup

  1. Log into your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll to the JetBackup 5 section (you may also see it listed under Files).
  3. Select the type of data you want to restore:
  • Full Account Backup – everything: files, emails, databases, cron jobs, etc.
  • File Backups – restore specific folders or files only
  • Database Backups – for restoring MySQL databases individually
  • Email Backups – restore individual email accounts and messages

Restoring a Full Account

  1. Click on Full Backups.
  2. Find the date you wish to restore and click the Restore icon.
  3. Confirm the restore request and JetBackup will begin the process.
  4. You will receive a notification in cPanel once the restore is complete.

Note: This will overwrite your current site and data with the selected backup version.

Restoring Files or Folders

  1. Click on File Backups.
  2. Choose a backup date and click the File Manager icon.
  3. Navigate to the file(s) or folder(s) you want to restore.
  4. Tick the checkboxes next to each item and click Restore Selected.
  5. Confirm the restore operation.

Use this option if you only need to restore part of your website, such as a theme folder or uploaded media files.

Restoring a Database

  1. Click Database Backups.
  2. Select the backup date and target database.
  3. Click Restore and confirm.

This will replace the current database with the version from the selected backup date. Useful after failed updates or plugin errors.

Restoring Email Accounts

  1. Choose Email Backups.
  2. Select the backup date and choose the email account to restore.
  3. Click Restore to recover lost messages or restore a deleted mailbox.

How Long Does a Restore Take?

Most restores complete within a few minutes, depending on the size of your account. Full account restores can take longer. You can continue working in cPanel while the restore is running.

Best Practices

  • Before making major changes to your site, note the current date so you can easily roll back if needed.
  • If you’re not sure which backup to choose, restore a file backup first instead of a full account restore.
  • For critical sites, test restores on a staging site first (available on request for Business+ plans and higher).
