Overview
Monitoring your hosting account’s disk space and bandwidth usage is essential for keeping your website online, emails working, and performance optimized. cPanel makes it easy to track usage in real time and avoid hitting soft or hard limits set by your hosting plan.
Checking Disk Usage
Quick Overview
- Log into your cPanel account.
- In the right-hand sidebar, look for the Statistics panel.
- Find the section labeled Disk Usage to view how much space you're currently using.
This shows your total usage and the plan's soft limit, which is tracked by ArchGriffin for overage billing if exceeded.
Detailed View
- Under the Files section, click Disk Usage.
- This opens a breakdown by folder, including:
public_html– your main website filesmail/– your email accounts and attachmentslogs/– raw access/error logs
- Scroll down for a folder-by-folder size report.
You can click any folder name to open it directly in File Manager for cleanup or inspection.
Checking Bandwidth Usage
Current Usage
- In cPanel, go to the Metrics section.
- Click Bandwidth.
- View daily, weekly, and monthly usage graphs by:
- HTTP (website traffic)
- POP/IMAP/SMTP (email usage)
- FTP transfers
ArchGriffin plans include generous soft limits. WHMCS tracks these values and will notify you if you exceed your plan’s included bandwidth. Overages are billed separately based on your usage report.
Tips to Reduce Disk and Bandwidth Usage
- Regularly delete unused themes, plugins, and media files in WordPress.
- Clear out old email messages or set up auto-delete rules for large folders.
- Compress and optimize images before uploading to your website.
- Use caching (enabled by default with Redis) to reduce repeat bandwidth hits.
- Limit use of high-resolution video or downloads on your site if bandwidth is tight.
When You’re Near or Over Limits
If you’re approaching or exceeding limits:
- Consider upgrading to a higher hosting tier with more resources.
- Contact support to review your usage and help clean up unnecessary files.
- You’ll never be cut off suddenly — we use soft limits to avoid site outages.
